The Magdalena Ecke Family YMCA is proud to offer the Character Builders, before and after school program, to the youth in our
community in kindergarten through 6th grade. All of our
child care sites are licensed by the State of California. (See licensing information below)
The Character Builders programs are offered at the following schools:
- La Costa Heights Elementary School
- Olivenhain Pioneer Elementary School
- Paul Ecke Central Elementary School
The Magdalena Ecke Family YMCA also provides before-
and after-school child care on-site at 200 Saxony Road
in Encinitas, serving the students of the following schools:
- Flora Vista Elementary, Park Dale Lane Elementary, Ocean
Knoll Elementary and Capri Elementary.
Children are dropped off and met at their school site by a
YMCA counselor and transported to and from their schools
to the Youth Center by bus for our child care program.
It is our philosophy that by providing a balance of emotional support, physical activities and cognitively stimulating environments, we can enhance your child’s natural growth process while facilitating their individual needs and learning styles. The children will have the opportunity to participate in the following activities while we strive to instill our core character values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility.

HOURS
Before-school care is available from 6:30 a.m. until school starts, and after-school hours are from school dismissal to 6:00 p.m.
